Hot Rod Power Tour 2008
If you’ve often wondered how the Hot Rod Power Tour comes together, we’re about to let you in on some of the fun.
Day 1 of pre-run:
I am up at 4:30AM for a 6:30AM flight from Los Angeles to Little Rock, Arkansas. I don't get up at 4:30AM!!! I may roll in at that time after a night of fun but to roll out of bed to catch a flight? NEVER! I board the plane, everything is fine, and then it went downhill when we got close to Houston. My flight actually turned into a Los Angeles to Austin to Houston (and I mean Houston) to Little Rock flight. Due to weather, my flight was diverted to Austin, sat on the tarmac there for a few hours until Houston was back open and finally made it to Houston at 4PM. I ended up sitting 6 long hours at the Houston airport, missed my Little Rock connection, of course, and was not able to get on 2 of 3 flights to Little Rock on standby. In the meantime, Jenny arrived in Little Rock at midnight on Sunday, had meetings this morning and has been sitting at some restaurant (bar) for at least 10 hours this afternoon waiting for me to arrive. Our plan was to start the pre-run when I got to Little Rock, grab my luggage and head right out to Springfield, Missouri. So, I end up boarding a 10:15PM flight, land in Little Rock at 11:30PM, collect my luggage and jump into our rental car - an Impala with sketchy brakes. Do you suppose Jenny had anything to do with that before I got there? Gotta love rentals.
Off we go!
4:30 AM-ARRIVE SPRINGFIELD and a soft pillow.
