Sometimes you have to prioritize.

Which would you choose? At first glance this seems like a totally off-topic post, and it would be if not for one small detail buried halfway through the body copy of this MSNBC report. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23637431/. Apparently a mostly complete 3-million-year-old Mastodon skeleton has been dominating the garage of a northern California family for the past few years. No, not assembled, but spread around occupying every available space, including the hot tub. Feel free to use that as an example next time someone says you’ve got too much useless junk in your garage. But back to how this relates to us. Apparently the family needs the money that skeleton could potentially bring, and as the mother told MSNBC, “her son would prefer to build hot rod cars in the space the creature now occupies.” Yup, he wants to swap out for some slightly newer ‘old’ parts to scatter around the garage. Good trade I say.
Now of course this is definitely an extreme example, but it got me thinking about the things that I’ve had to sacrifice over the years to finish a project or purchase the next one. There are plenty of things I wish I could have kept (and some I still need to sell), but I know I’ll never get any project finished if I keep throwing pennies in 20 different directions. Plus, cars aren’t my only passion, so there’s always that juggling of priorities as to where the money should go. Weekend snowboarding trip or suspension parts? New surfboard or new set of headers? Decisions, decisions… So let’s hear it, what have you sold or sacrificed to make way for hot rodding?
